This wonderful Marginal Aquatic is just what you need for small ponds, water gardens and bogs. Boasting compact mounds of fresh green foliage, its striking spiky flowerheads will appear from July until September and add an exotic, tropical feel to your outdoor space. Happy to progress in semi shade, watch it develop to a height of 80cm, along with a spread of 50cm. A dwarf form of the towering Egyptian Papyrus that offers the same spectacular flower heads but only reaches 80cm high. Cyperus papyrus percamenthus offers architectural structure and a touch of exoticism to smaller garden ponds.
Grow in the shallow margins of a pond at a depth of 0-15cm in sun or light shade. This tender perennial is not winter hardy so remove the plant from the pond and overwinter in a greenhouse, cold frame or sheltered, frost free place.
Planting instructions: Empty the soil mix into the aquatic planting basket, and plant the bareroots so that the growing point sits just below the soil surface. Cover the surface of the soil with the gravel to hold the compost in place. It is recommended that the planting basket is gently submerged in a bucket of water to allow the compost to become completely soaked through. This will allow any loose compost to float to the surface before you position it in your pond.
