Introducing the 2023 release! Clematis Tumaini is a stunning new variety bred by Guernsey Clematis, one of the world’s leading specialist clematis nurseries. Set to make its debut at this year’s Chelsea Flower Show, it’s sure to turn heads. Perfect for small gardens, courtyards, patios, and larger spaces alike, Tumaini is a space-saving, free-flowering beauty that blooms prolifically over an extended period. This compact yet vibrant climber produces an abundance of large, 10-12cm flowers with delicate light violet petals adorned with a striking dark pink bar. Its generous flowering season starts in April, peaks in May and June, and offers a smaller but charming second flush in September. Tumaini is ideal for container planting and adds an eye-catching vertical element to any garden. It also thrives in mixed borders when trained on an obelisk or wigwam. Size: Grows to a height of 90-120cm (35-47in) with a spread of 75cm (30in). As with all plants, size will vary with the seasons, so we list by pot size rather than a fixed plant size. The plant’s height and spread on arrival will reflect the time of year, with images serving as a general guide. New for 2023! This stunning Clematis has been bred by Guernsey Clematis, one of the largest specialist Clematis nurseries in the world. When planting clematis, choose a position in sun or semi-shade and plant the climber deeply in moist, fertile, well drained soil. Position the top of the rootball at a depth of 7.5cm (3″) below soil level, to encourage new shoots to form from the base of the plant. Clematis dislike soils that are particularly wet or dry. Such soils can be improved by the addition of plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost. When growing clematis in patio containers use a soil based compost such as John Innes No.3. Train clematis plants onto a suitable support such as trellis, wires or a freestanding climbing frame.
