Rhododendron “Hachmann’s Polaris” is a beautiful specimen plant for a pot or acid border in the shade. The bell-shaped flowers on this hardy tiny Yakushimanum hybrid are lavender pink and have beautiful, ruffled margins. Its flowers look beautiful against the deep, lustrous leaves in the spring. This tidy shrub forms a lovely bushy mound and stays evergreen for the duration of the year. Any garden would benefit from the addition of this plant. Height and spread: 120cm (48″). Rhododendron ‘Hachmann’s Polaris’ makes a worthy addition to any garden. This tough little Yakushimanum hybrid bears dense heads of pale pink, bell shaped flowers, with showy, ruffled edges. Grow Rhododendrons in moist, well drained, acid soil that has been enriched with plenty of well rotted organic matter. Choose a position in semi or dappled shade with shelter from cold drying winds. Many dwarf Rhododendrons can cope with a sunny position provided that the soil remains reliably moist. Where soil conditions are alkaline, Rhododendron plants are best grown in patio containers, using a mix of ericaceous compost and a soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3. Rhododendrons are surface rooting so it is important to avoid planting them too deeply.
