This deciduous tree, sometimes known as the Twisted Willow or Corkscrew Willow, is notable for its unusually distorted growth tendencies. Salix babylonica ‘Tortuosa’ is a fast-growing tree that generates growth that twists and rotates like a corkscrew for no apparent reason, and the leaves follow suit. Yellow catkins occur on the bare branches in the spring before the vivid green foliage appears.
