In early summer, the striking, white spathes of Zantedeschia aethiopica ‘Crowborough’ create a breathtaking display. The bold, architectural flowers rise above a backdrop of glossy, arrow-shaped leaves that form a dense, rounded clump. This popular variety, which has earned the prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit, is a truly elegant Arum Lily that adds a touch of grace to damp borders, bog gardens, or the shallow edges of ponds. With a mature height of up to 90cm (36″) and a similar spread, it thrives in Zones 1, 2, and 3, where it can be planted 20cm (8″) below the water level. Since the plant’s size varies seasonally, we list it by pot size rather than a specific measurement. The plant’s appearance at delivery may differ depending on the time of year, so the images provided are for reference only. Zantedeschia can be grown in reliably moist soil, or as a marginal plant in ponds, standing in water up to 20cm (8”) deep. These Arum Lilies can also be grown in containers of rich, fertile, loam based compost such as John Innes No. 2 that can be moved to a dry, frost free position during cooler winters.
