A well-loved cultivar which is adored for its magnificent purple-blue blooms and heavenly sweet perfume. Buddleja davidii ‘Empire Blue’ is a large hardy shrub with a vertical habit and slim silver-green foliage with a lighter underside that cover the graceful arching stems. This Butterfly Bush was one of the first blue varieties available commercially and makes a showy specimen for sunny borders.Height: 200cm (78″). Spread: 250cm (98″). Plant Buddleja in garden borders in any moist, well drained garden soil, in full sun or semi-shade. Alternatively grow buddleja plants in patio containers using soil based compost such as John Innes No.3.
