‘Sylvia Column’ is a wonderful Cherry, that is ready to harvest from July until August. It boasts an abundance of glossy, deep red fruits, that form amongst an upright, narrow growing habit of fresh green foliage. A beautiful focal point in the spring with its delicate pink blossom, try incorporating into large patio pots, kitchen and cottage gardens. Happy to progress in full sun, watch it develop in height to 2.5m, along with a spread of 1m. Enjoy fresh sweet cherries picked from your patio! Cherry ‘Sylvia Column’ is a dwarf cherry that bears few side branches, growing into a narrow column that fits into the tightest of spaces.
Plant cherry trees in any well drained soil in a sheltered, sunny position. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the planting hole and drive the stake into the ground to support the tree. Staking after planting may result in damage to the root ball. Plant fruit trees at their original soil level and firm them into the ground. Fasten the tree to the stake using a tree tie, and water well.
When growing cherries on the patio, use a large 60cm (24″) diameter container filled with a soil based compost such as John Innes No 3.
