Sea Buckthorn is a fabulous shrub that makes excellent privacy screening, hedging and security additions. It boasts slender, silvery leaflets that sit amongst spiky stems, accompanied from March until May by tiny yellow flowers. As Autumn approaches small orange fruits will appear, attracting lots of wildlife and adding garden interest. It is well suited to coastal gardens, as well as making superb additions to woodlands and low maintenance outdoor spaces. Position in full sun and watch it thrive to 8m in height and spread. Plant Hippophae rhamnoides in well drained, neutral to alkaline soil, this plant dislikes excessive moisture and also prefers full sun.
