Geum Samba Sunset
Brand new for 2021, Geum ‘Samba Sunset’ is a world exclusive that comes from the latest breeding programmes offering larger blooms and a free-flowering display. The results are brilliant, as giant, double flowers, twice the size of traditional varieties, grow in an abundance throughout the summer. The striking scarlet blooms sit upon slender stems above a mass of pretty, green foliage. This variety brings a unique twist on a classic cottage garden favourite and provides a vibrant display of summer colour which can be incorporated into perennial borders and patio pots. It is also much-loved by pollinating insects! Height: 60cm (24”). Spread: 45cm (18”).
Pot up geum plants and grow them on in bright, frost-free conditions until large enough to be transplanted outdoors. When all risk of frost has passed, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days. Geums dislike soils which are prone to waterlogging in winter. Plant them in moist, fertile, well drained soil, adding plenty of compost or well rotted manure to amend heavy clay or sandy soils. Choose a position towards the front of the border in full sun.
