‘Polar Ice’ is a stunning Agapanthus, that is ready to flower from July until November. It produces bundles of dome-shaped blooms, that are a pure white in colour. They stand tall above lengthy green stems and contrast wonderfully against its clump forming habit of fresh green foliage. The perfect shrub for planting in patio containers and incorporating throughout cottage themed gardens, keep positioned in semi shade and watch it thrive to a height of 120cm, along with a spread of 60cm. The crystal-white flowers of Agapanthus ‘Polar Ice’ lend a bright sparkle to late season borders and patio containers. Large, rounded heads are adorned with pure white, trumpet-shaped flowers that stand tall above clumps of slender, mid-green leaves.
Grow Agapanthus in rich fertile, well drained soil, in a sunny position. When growing Agapanthus in patio containers use a soil based compost, such as John Innes No.3 .
Plant bareroots at the earliest opportunity following delivery. Should soil conditions prevent planting directly into borders (if soil is frozen or waterlogged), bareroots should be potted up, watered sparingly and grown on in a cool position for planting out at a later date.
Choose a sunny or semi shaded position in moist, well drained soil and work some well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil. Dig a hole wide enough to accommodate the bareroot with its roots spread out and deep enough that the crown of the plant is just a few cm below soil level. Backfill the hole with soil and firm the plant in gently. Leave a slight depression around the plant – this will help to direct water towards the roots.
