A low-growing, compact, thorny variety of hedging which won’t block the light but makes an excellent deterrent as well as providing colour and interest from spring to autumn. To avoid the risk from the build-up of harmful soil organisms and disease, choose an open position in full sun that has not been planted with roses in recent years. Roses enjoy a rich, fertile, well drained soil. Dig in plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil prior to planting roses and add a small handful of granular fertiliser to the planting hole.
