Astrantia Florence is a stunning hardy perennial that boasts domes of baby pink and green flowers, they are surrounded by striking bracts and sit amongst contrasting, clump forming foliage. It enjoys a sunny spot to develop, is easy to care for and makes elegant additions to cottage and cut flower gardens, borders and woodlands. This Astrantia is a magnet for pollinating insects, its unique blooms will attract lots of attention and add architectural height to life less corners of outdoor spaces. It will grow in height to 80cm and spread to around 50cm.
Astrantias are happiest in dappled shade (but tolerate almost full shade to full sun) in moist but well-drained, humus rich soil. Little maintenance is required – the plant can be cut back after the flowers have faded to tidy and encourage a fresh flush of leaf growth, or the seed heads left standing until winter to provide continued interest.
