Winner of Gardeners’ World Plant of The Year Award 2023, ‘Peter’s Persica’ is a stunning new climbing rose named as a tribute to gardening legend, Peter Seabrook. Peter was won over by the rose when he saw it blooming in trial fields and he clearly spotted a winner as it has also been recognised with an Award of Merit at Rochford’s International Rose Trials in 2021. A repeat bloomer, ‘Peter’s Persica’ boasts outstanding disease resistance and glossy, healthy foliage. This colourful rose bears masses of 10cm, vibrant yellow flowers with a flaming red eye. Compact in size, it’s ideal for limited spaces and makes a perfect patio climber for a large container. Height: 2.5 – 2.7m (8-9ft). Spread: 1m (39in).
Sales of the rose will support the work of the Colgrave Seabrook Foundation which assists students in horticulture.
Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.
Winner of Gardeners’ World Plant of The Year Award 2023, ‘Peter’s Persica’ is a stunning new climbing rose named as a tribute to gardening legend, Peter Seabrook. Plant bareroot roses at the earliest opportunity following delivery. To avoid the risk from the build-up of harmful soil organisms and disease, choose an open position in full sun that has not been planted with roses in recent years. Roses enjoy a rich, fertile, well drained soil. Dig in plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil prior to planting roses and add a small handful of granular fertiliser to the planting hole. Stems of climbing roses will require training against a suitable support such as a pergola, fence or wall.
