Ideal for growing in borders, rockeries and wildlife themed landscapes, this striking hardy shrub is perfect for creating some texture and structure in lifeless outdoor spaces. Happy to develop in semi shade, watch your Berberis thrive to a height of 40cm, along with a spread of 60cm. A versatile little deciduous shrub, Berberis thunbergii ‘Kobold’ forms a dense, compact mound of dark green foliage which takes on yellow tints in the autumn before falling. The small, pale yellow spring flowers are attractive to pollinating insects and are followed by glossy red berries. Excellent for edging or dwarf hedging, this dwarf Barberry also looks superb grouped at the front of borders, grown in rock gardens or patio containers. Height: 40cm (16″). Spread: 60cm (24″). Plant Berberis in full sun or partial shade, on a reliably moist, well-drained soil. Barberry plants are extremely resilient and will grow on many different soil types, except waterlogged.
