‘Ginny Gee’ is a beautiful Rhododendron, that blooms from April until May. It generates bundles of trumpet-shaped, pale pink and cerise flowers, that smother a dwarf, compact growing habit of glossy green foliage. Perfect for planting in woodland, exotic and low maintenance gardening schemes, it also looks wonderful in vibrant borders and contemporary patio pots. Happy to grow in semi shade, watch it progress to a height and spread of 50cm. Rhododendron ‘Ginny Gee’ is a popular and well regarded dwarf hybrid, having earned itself a prestigious RHS AGM. From late April, the dark evergreen foliage disappears beneath a covering of pale pink blooms, which are delicately edged in cerise pink. Grow Rhododendrons in moist, well drained, acid soil that has been enriched with plenty of well rotted organic matter. Choose a position in semi or dappled shade with shelter from cold drying winds. Many dwarf Rhododendrons can cope with a sunny position provided that the soil remains reliably moist. Where soil conditions are alkaline, Rhododendron plants are best grown in patio containers, using a mix of ericaceous compost and a soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3. Rhododendrons are surface rooting so it is important to avoid planting them too deeply.
