Rhododendron luteum is a wonderful new Azalea, that is ready to flower from May until June. It produces bundles of bright yellow blooms, that form in eye-catching funnel shapes and top a rounded growing habit of fresh green foliage. Much loved for their delicious fragrance, be sure to incorporate into woodland, tropical and low maintenance themed outdoor spaces. Keep positioned in semi shade and watch it progress to a height and spread of 4m. Grow Rhododendrons in moist, well drained, acid soil that has been enriched with plenty of well rotted organic matter. Choose a position in semi or dappled shade with shelter from cold drying winds. Many dwarf Rhododendrons can cope with a sunny position provided that the soil remains reliably moist. Where soil conditions are alkaline, Rhododendron plants are best grown in patio containers, using a mix of ericaceous compost and a soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3. Rhododendrons are surface rooting so it is important to avoid planting them too deeply.
