‘Alexandra’ is a stunning new Bougainvillea, that is ready to bloom from July until October. It boasts an abundance of hot pink flower clusters, that smother an upright, climbing habit of fresh green foliage. Ideal for indoor or outdoor planting, be sure to incorporate into tropical themed landscapes, patio pots, conservatories or greenhouses. Happy to thrive in direct sunlight, watch it progress to a height of 4m, along with a spread of 1.5m. This semi-evergreen climber delivers dazzling pops of colour in summer with its bold clusters of papery magenta-purple bracts.
Bourgainvilleas are tender perennials and require a minimum night time temperature of 10°C (50°F). They can be placed outdoors during summer but moved into a frost-free position over winter, such as a conservatory, heated greenhouse or sunny windowsill. When growing indoors, avoid a position in direct sunlight.
Bourgainvilleas are drought tolerant and resent having soggy roots. Water regularly during the summer using a drench and drought regime, allowing the plant to almost dry out between waterings. Water sparingly during the autumn and winter. Feed weekly from spring, commencing with a high nitrogen feed and swapping to a high potash feed when the flower bracts begin to form.
