Rhododendron ‘Silberwolke’ is a superb hardy shrub that is much adored for its trumpet-shaped, pale pink blooms. They will appear in bundles from April until May and smother a compact growing, rounded habit of deep green leaflets. A beautiful addition to the front of borders, patio pots and tropical themed landscapes, it will really liven up dull outdoor spaces and remain easy to care for all year round. Happy to develop in semi shade, watch it thrive to a height and spread of 130cm. Exquisite in bloom, this Yakushimanum hybrid well deserves its RHS AGM. The frilled white flowers open from purple-pink buds, creating the perfect contrast to its dark, glossy foliage. Grow Rhododendrons in moist, well drained, acid soil that has been enriched with plenty of well rotted organic matter. Choose a position in semi or dappled shade with shelter from cold drying winds. Many dwarf Rhododendrons can cope with a sunny position provided that the soil remains reliably moist. Where soil conditions are alkaline, Rhododendron plants are best grown in patio containers, using a mix of ericaceous compost and a soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3. Rhododendrons are surface rooting so it is important to avoid planting them too deeply.
